A Quilt for Rapunzel...Part3

I am really hoping that this will be one of the last few posts about this quilt.  Don't take that the wrong way.  I have loved making this quilt, but it's been a long time coming and I'm getting to the point that it just needs to be done.  The poor little princess needs a quilt for her bed!!

Now, if you are a bit behind and wondering why I'm so ready to have this done....just read the two posts below:

I got to a point where I thought I was finished with it and ready to send it off for quilting and just had that feeling that something was missing.  I couldn't decide what it was, but something about it just didn't feel quite right.  I put the quilt away for a while and ended up pulling it back out the other day and it just hit me.....APPLIQUED FLOWERS!  I headed to the fabric store (which I so conveniently live a block away form) and was lucky enough to find she still had some of the fabric left that I had used in the block.  I snatched up some, got a little "wonder under" to go with it and headed home to get to work.  I just found a flower on Google that I liked and printed it off.  Then traced enough for each block on the quilt.  After pressing each onto the quilt I set to work on using a blanket stitch to attach them.
My biggest mistake.....not doing the applique to each block BEFORE piecing the quilt together.  It definitely would have been much easier and less time-consuming but, it eventually got finished and is now ready for quilting.  I really think it added that little extra!

I'll write one last post about it when I get it back from quilting.  ;)

  3. Bee-U-Tee-Ful! Love the colors and you are right about the appliqued flowers. Just the right finishing touch. Can't wait to see when it's all quilted.
