English Paper Piecing

This was my first attempt at trying out the method of English Paper Piecing.  I think it turned out pretty good!
It's obviously not completed, but it was my little project last night after the kids went to bed and while the hubby was watching some testosterone-raged show.  I'm hoping I will be able to get some more done on it today, maybe during nap time?
It was quite fun watching it come together as I hand-stitched each little piece, but to be honest, and to those of you who know how to paper piece, it takes time.  2 hours to be exact!  2 hours to create this cute little 5 1/2 inch sunflower.
I have signed up for a BOTM (block of the month) class at a local quilt shop and this was the first block we received.  I'll have to keep you posted as I go.  I am quite excited to try new techniques and watch it all come together.  :)
When we received our mini-kit for this block we had a little tutorial on how to to some of the techniques we would be using ei: english paper piecing, yo-yo's and applique.  However, the written instructions did come with a link to this tutorial and I thought I'd share it in case you're interested in trying it out yourself!

Wish me luck on finishing and like I said, I'll keep you updated.
