Applique

This post is a little continuation from my previous one a couple of days ago.
As I mentioned, this project has given me a lot of opportunities to try some new techniques and I have had a lot of fun with it!  Today I tried applique for the first time and it really was not as bad as I was worried about it being.  I just used a blanket stitch on my machine and I'm still debating if I should make my stitch lengths a little longer.  All the same, it turned out pretty cute! :)
With a mixture of English Paper Piecing and machine applique, it was a good "learner block" for me.
The other block that went with it was a cute little cherry block.  I hadn't made yo-yo's before but they were not so bad.  (there's a nifty tool you can buy to make them easier, but the local quilt shop was sold out so I just did them the old fashioned way)
So with both blocks together.....
I'm pretty excited how this adorable thing will look all finished. :)
It makes me very excited for summer!!!!
