Hands-Down Best Sugar Cookies!

In honor of the big "Day of Love" I thought I'd share my recipe for what we consider to be hands-down THE BEST sugar cookies out there!  Everyone has their own favorite recipe and trust me, I have tried many!  However, this one has come to be our family's favorite!
Soft Sugar Cookies
5 to 5 ½ cups flour
1 ½ cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
¾ cup butter flavored Crisco
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Cream shortening, add sugar and eggs, then milk and vanilla, then add dry ingredients and mix well.
Be very careful not to add too much flour!  You want the dough to be wet, but not stick to your fingers when you touch it.  (I start with 4 1/2 cups flour and just add a little at a time until I get the right consistency.)
Roll out on lightly floured counter and cut.
It helps to have tiny hands helping...  :)
Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 min.
DO NOT cool on pan!  This will over bake them!  I bake each batch for 10 min and they turn out perfectly soft!
The bottoms should be only slightly browned like this.
Let cookies cool completely, then frost.
We prefer a glaze more than a frosting....here's my recipe for the one I like to use!

Sugar Cookie Glaze
3-4 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp almond extract
Mix all ingredients together.  It will be fairly runny and should not be stiff like a frosting.  Use a spoon to "ice" cookies.  Let glaze harden for a couple of hours and then enjoy!
