LDS Music, and a GIVEAWAY!!!

Hey everyone! I am so excited for my post today, and here's why! I was recently invited to write a post for yourldsmusicstore.com. 

Ok, so you may be thinking big deal...so what?  Well, this a first for me and those of you who know me know I have a deep love of music!  I have played the piano since I was 5 years old and I think this "love" is what inspired me to follow my dreams of dancing growing up.  I really love all kinds of music, but the wonderful thing about music is how uplifting it can be.  It soothes your soul, it can make you happy, comfort you or bring out some raw emotion.  It can help you express how you are feeling, but also help convey what you can't express. 

The only thing I struggle with is how cluttered and demeaning some music of this world has become.  It makes it hard to listen to around your children and it's definately not something you want dwelling in your hearts and minds.  That is why I am so glad that there are so many talented LDS artists out there who are willing to share their talents.  They provide us with beautiful and uplifting music that our Father in Heaven would approve of us listening to.

I don't know that I can say I have one specific favorite LDS artist.  There are sooo many of them that I enjoy listening to, but here's a list of my current top 5 favorite Christmas songs by LDS artists
(in no particular order)....

 

ANYTHING by John Schmidt (and The Piano Guys)

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel by Jenny Oaks Baker

Away in a Manger by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Any of Paul Cardall's beautiful arrangements

Silent Night by William Joseph

Well, this is a new website where you can get on and browse through the many of amazing LDS artists out there.  They have an CD's, Downloads, Sheetmusic, Songbooks and so much more!  I think my favorite part so far is the LDS radio they have.  It's kind of like a Pandora option....but with the uplifting and beautiful LDS music available.  The neat thing is, they have so many options of artists now, but they are also fairly new so they will definately be adding to their list of available artists.
