I have had so much fun with my little girl! She has been such a girly-girl and is getting more so every day! We honestly had quite the struggle with getting her to "like" having her hair done at first, but after a few tries and her big brother being GREAT to entertain her, she now actually likes to have me play with her hair. We sat down this morning and were not in too much of a rush so I thought we could try a practice run of a valentines hair-do. I have seen a bunch of blogs with girls hairstyles and they have had some really cute ideas, but have never seen one like this. Now, I'm not taking credit for it! I'm sure someone has done it before, but this is just my take on something to make the day of Love more festive!
As you can tell, her hair is still growing out so there are a few spots we have some loose flyaways, but for hte most part, our first try went pretty well! I mean, let's face it, doing a 15 month-old's hair is not an easy task.
(please dont mind the Polor Express popcorn tin...it kept her hands busy for a minute)
I just started by parting her hair down the middle and put an elastic in the center toward the back of the top of her head. I then split that in two and added each piece to a section on one side of her head (going diagnally toward the top) until i reached the front of her head, then repeated it on the other side, trying to keep each elastic close to the same place ad the other side. Once you reach the top take a section of hair further back on the side of her head and place elastics working your way down toward the nape of the neck until you get to the bottom to place one elastic.
I thought it would be fun to use alternating pink, red and white elastics, or a solid, or if you have an older girl that will sit still longer and more patiently, it would be fun to run ribbon under the elastics in the shape of the heart.
Good luck and if you have questions, let me know!! :)
