Grandma's Peanut Butter Fudge

Please excuse the terrible pic....just take my word that this is a delicious recipe!
This recipe for peanut butter fudge has been in our family for as long as I know.  My Great-Grandmother was famous for making it and luckily most of us were taught the recipe before she passed away.  It's one of those treats that once you have had it, you crave it more often that not.  If you have ever made fudge or just candy, its fairly simple.....just be patient!

Grandma's Peanut Butter Fudge
2 cups sugar
2 tbsp corn syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup peanut butter
(creamy or chunky doesn't matter, just depends on your preference)

Mix sugar, corn syrup, salt, cocoa and milk in a large saucepan.  Bring to a slow boil, stirring all the time.  Be careful not to wipe the sugar crystals off the sides of the pan, just let them cook in.  Stir constantly so it does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
Cook until it reaches the soft-ball stage (about 228 degrees).  Remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla.  Beat with a wooden spoon until mixture looses its gloss and begins to hold it's shape.
Pour into a buttered dish.  I usually use a pie pan.  Let cool and set completely before cutting.

Enjoy!! :)
